How do I remove rust from a carbon steel sword?
I have a modern reproduction sword made of carbon steel that is beginning to rust on the guard, which was exposed during storage. The rust spots are light, so I think they appeared recently. What should I use to remove the rust and prevent it from getting any worse?
The only thing about using steel wool is it’s going to cause scratches on your sword. Go to your local hardware store and pick up some 400 grit sandpaper to knock out the rust.
