Oak Cherry

Cherry countertop on oak cabinets?

I am thinking about using some leftover Brazillian Cherry hardwood flooring to make a new countertop for my kitchen. I have Oak cabinets, though. Would it look bad with two different types of wood, or would it be OK? I also like copper countertops, but I hear they are quite expensive. What do you guys think?

One time, I actually installed a section of an old bowling lane as a counter top!
At first I was cynical and dubious as to the outcome,
but looking at the final result,
I was impressed.
The thing was just about indestructible too.
It was made to withstand tossed bowling balls so…

Brazilian cherry wood is beautiful wood,
in my opinion.
I guess it has to do with personal taste.
Me, I love the myriad of wood’s different grains and colors working together in comparison and contrast.
But then I’d probably live in a tree-house if I had a choice…

Try it out first.
Set some pieces on the counter for a few days and see if you still like it, or don’t.
Whatever you do, don’t just throw the flooring away.
Use it somewhere else,
or save it,
or sell it.

And yes, copper’s price has gotten ridiculously high.
Probably on a par with granite.

All the best with whatever you decide..
